governing for the rich May 9, 2011

For a moment reading this story in the Guardian I thought it must be April Fools Day:

Teenagers from the wealthiest families would be able to pay for extra places at the most competitive universities under government proposals that could allow institutions to charge some British students the same high fees as overseas undergraduates.

The more you have, the more you get.

Oh, so true. But I think this goes under the heading of diversity, ensuring students of different backgrounds will have the opportunity to go to university….Maybe not enough rich kids get there.

Surely for double the fee, they could guarantee a good degree and a free pass to law school!

(It gets worse when you find out there is a new reality TV show here based on rich Chelsea wannabes wondering how rich and famous there’ll get to be.
